#UnderTheHood – a journey of discovery
We live in an exciting time – new technologies are emerging every day. Along with the excitement come questions about how our world might change. Undoubtedly, there’s a lot of scepticism about tech tools and the people who develop them.
The Civic Tech Innovation Forum 2024 is set to break down silos and spark conversations between tech users, developers, and regulators. With emerging technologies like Generative AI raising questions and concerns, this year’s event—#UnderTheHood—dives deep into the real issues: tech transparency, regulation, and community-driven innovation.
“This year, we’re bringing everyone to the table—users, developers, and regulators—to shape a more equitable and democratic tech future,” said Mqondisi Mavundla, CTIN Programme Coordinator.
The forum will explore key questions:
- What’s really going on in tech development—can we trust the systems we rely on?
- How can communities harness local talent and creativity to build a tech ecosystem that empowers Africa?
- What hidden potential exists within individuals that can drive global change?
Key Focus Areas:
- Democracy and Governance: Are we moving forward?
- Development: Exploring civic tech opportunities.
- Culture and Creativity: Where does creativity meet activism?
