Starbucks Revitalizes South Africa’s Coffee Scene with Ready-to-Drink Relaunch

12 May 2025, South Africa: Inspired by the coffeehouse favorites, Starbucks is bringing four Ready-to-Drink chilled coffee beverages back to South Africa. The Starbucks® Frappuccino® Ready-to-Drink range can now be found in major retailers including Spar, Pick n Pay, and Checkers, as well as at forecourts, selected airports, universities, and beach bars across South Africa.
This relaunch solidifies Starbucks’ presence in the South African market, where the Ready-to-Drink range is already a beloved choice in over 57 countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This milestone arrives nine years after the first Starbucks store opened in Johannesburg in 2016, subsequently spreading to Durban and Cape Town.
The Starbucks Frappuccino® drink range offers a delicious blend of signature espresso coffee, creamy milk, and unique flavorings, perfect for enjoyment at home or on the go. The range features four iconic flavors: creamy mocha delight, indulgent caramel, creamy coffee, and delightful classic vanilla.
Starbucks is committed to delivering the best coffee flavor, sourcing 100% arabica beans through its Coffee and Farmer Equity (C.A.F.E) Practices program. Each bottle encapsulates this dedication, ensuring consumers receive the finest taste experience.
Charlotta Oldham, Marketing Director, Channel Development EMEA, expressed excitement: “We are delighted to relaunch our iconic Starbucks® Ready-to-Drink range in South African grocery aisles. Whether in need of a chilled pick-me-up or a deserved coffee treat, Starbucks® chilled coffee offers the perfect coffee moment, anywhere, anytime.”
Jonathan Tei Bergfeld, Senior Commercial Manager at Arla Foods, the official licensed partner for manufacturing and distribution in EMEA, said: “We are thrilled to reintroduce the Starbucks® Ready-to-Drink range in South Africa. Partnering with SG Gateway Services will enable us to reach more consumers locally, providing them with one of the leading RTD coffee brands in EMEA.”
This synergistic effort is set to provide South African coffee lovers with greater accessibility to their favorite Starbucks beverages, maintaining the brand’s reputation for quality and ethical sourcing.
