The purple carpet came alive on Saturday, 17 October, as South Africa’s biggest digital personalities gathered for the 2026 Samsung Galaxy Content Creator Awards at The Galleria in Sandton. Bringing together celebrities, influencers, entertainers and rising social media stars, the evening celebrated the creative voices shaping the country’s digital landscape.

From fashion-forward arrivals to major award wins, the event highlighted the growing influence of South African content creators. These are the personalities driving online conversations, setting trends and connecting with audiences across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and beyond.

Grace Mondlana and Lasizwe Lead the 2026 Winners

It was a standout evening for Grace Mondlana, who claimed two of the night’s most prestigious honours. She walked away with the coveted Samsung Galaxy Creator of the Year Award and the Trendsetter Award, cementing her position as one of South Africa’s leading digital personalities.

Fellow content creator and entertainer Lasizwe added another achievement to his career, taking home the YouTube Creator of the Year Award.

Other notable winners included Chad Jones, who received the Dance Creator Award, and Yasmin Furmie, who was recognised with the Style Award. Mikhalé Jones claimed the 947 Sound of Tomorrow Award, while Miss Angler received the Expert Voices Award.

Comedy creator Ikho Kweba, Nabilah Kariem and Joshua Rubin were also celebrated for their contributions to South Africa’s thriving creator economy.

A Star-Studded Purple Carpet in Sandton

Beyond the awards, the purple carpet delivered a showcase of South African style and personality.

Among the familiar faces spotted at The Galleria were Nadia Jaftha, Chanley Wong, Lesego Tlhabi, Kyle Clark, Banele Ndaba, Kim Jayde, Anika Dambuza and Devi Sankaree Govender.

They were joined by Courtnaé Paul, K Naomi, Kriya Gangiah, Lebo Lion, Mbali Nhlapo, Lordkez, Benny Jnr, Sphokuhle N, Lukie and Farieda Metsileng, alongside an impressive gathering of digital creators and entertainment personalities.

The evening reflected the diversity of South Africa’s content creation industry, where fashion, comedy, lifestyle, music and storytelling continue to influence popular culture.

Celebrating South Africa’s Growing Creator Economy

For Manuela Dias de Deus, Founder of the Content Creator Awards and One-eyed Jack, the occasion represented more than an opportunity to recognise individual achievements.

“It’s always special to see the creator community come together, not just to celebrate the winners, but to connect, support one another and recognise the work happening across the industry. The purple carpet was full of personality, creativity and incredible style, and the energy carried right through the evening,” she said.

Dias de Deus also highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for digital talent to receive recognition on a national platform.

“The Content Creator Awards are about giving this talent the recognition it deserves.
