Max Mara is entering a new chapter. The Italian luxury fashion house has launched Max Mara Le Parfum in South Africa, marking the brand’s first fragrance and a significant milestone in its 75-year history. 

Developed in partnership with Shiseido, Le Parfum takes the codes that have long defined Max Mara – precision, craftsmanship, independence and understated elegance – and translates them into scent.

Known for tailoring that feels almost architectural, Max Mara approaches fragrance with the same philosophy. Clothing becomes a second skin, while fragrance offers an even more intimate expression of identity.

From Fashion to Fragrance

For decades, Max Mara has built its identity around pieces designed to endure beyond seasons. Its iconic coats, refined silhouettes and meticulous construction have become synonymous with a distinctly understated approach to luxury.

Le Parfum extends that philosophy beyond the wardrobe.

“For Max Mara, a garment is a second skin, a form of architecture that exudes presence and confidence,” the brand explains. With fragrance, that tactile heritage moves into a more sensory and evocative space. 

The result is a fragrance designed to make its presence known without relying on excess – much like the Max Mara woman herself.

Florence Pugh Fronts Max Mara Le Parfum

British actress Florence Pugh stars in the fragrance’s global campaign, titled “When You’re Ready, You’ll Know.”

Rather than presenting confidence as a transformation, the campaign explores the moment a woman feels aligned with herself. Pugh represents a contemporary Max Mara woman – confident, independent and comfortable in her individuality. 

It reflects a broader Max Mara philosophy: elegance does not necessarily need spectacle. It can be found in quality, silhouette and presence.

What Does Max Mara Le Parfum Smell Like?

Le Parfum is a woody floral fragrance created to echo the texture and timeless appeal of a Max Mara coat.

Made with 90% natural-origin ingredients, the vegan fragrance combines powerful woods with a distinctive tuberose duo.

The fragrance opens with tuberose, combining a fresh bloom from Grasse with a creamy absolute from Guatemala. At its heart, vanilla introduces an enveloping warmth.

The base moves into deeper territory with natural-origin sandalwood and cedarwood, bringing a woody strength to the composition.

Its key fragrance notes include tuberose, vanilla, sandalwood and cedarwood, while its scent profile moves between floral, woody and musky accords. 

How to Layer Max Mara Le Parfum

Le Parfum can be worn alone, sprayed onto pulse points, or incorporated into a more indulgent fragrance ritual.

For a longer-lasting scent trail, it can be layered with the Max Mara Le Parfum Shower Gel and Max Mara Le Parfum Body Lotion.

Max Mara Le Parfum launched in South Africa on 1 September 2026, with recommended retail pricing starting from R3,200. 

The debut arrives as Max Mara celebrates its 75th anniversary. Founded by Achille Maramotti in Reggio Emilia, Italy, in 1951, the house has built its legacy around craftsmanship, tailoring and timeless design.

With Le Parfum, those familiar codes take on a new form. You may no longer need to wear the coat to experience a little of the Max Mara world.
