LDV South Africa and Bay FM 107.9 Drive Change on Mandela Day 2025

LDV South Africa and Bay FM 107.9 Drive Change on Mandela Day 2025

On Mandela Day 2025, the vibrant city of Gqeberha came alive with the powerful spirit of Ubuntu. This was especially evident as LDV South Africa teamed up with the beloved local radio station, Bay FM 107.9. Inspired by Nelson Mandela’s profound belief that “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” this collaboration aimed to foster tangible, heartfelt change within the community.

Since both organisations share a commitment to uplifting the community, they recognised the importance of working together. As a result, events were organised that emphasised education and involvement.

This partnership not only celebrated Mandela’s legacy but also reflected the strong values of the local community. By fostering these connections, they created a platform that allowed individuals to share their experiences and knowledge, thereby encouraging growth and learning.

All in all, it was a day filled with purpose and unity, reminding everyone of the enduring impact of kindness and compassion.

The event showcased various initiatives supporting local schools, including book donations, educational workshops, and mentorship programs led by community volunteers. Residents and local businesses eagerly participated, filling the day with acts of kindness and reinforcing the importance of unity and compassion in driving positive transformation.

The collaborative efforts of LDV South Africa and Bay FM resonated deeply, leaving a lasting impact on both the individuals involved and the broader community.

Inspiring Young Minds on Mandela Day 2025 with Stories

First of all, the day started at Uviwe Child and Youth Services in Gelvandale and Schauderville. There, Bay FM’s team read stories to kids, sparking their imaginations and showing them the magic of learning.

That moment of connection wasn’t just about fun—it was a nod to Mandela’s vision of education as a force for good. Soon after, the kids engaged with the stories, their eyes lighting up as they absorbed the adventures within the pages. This enthusiasm reminded everyone present that education is not only important but also transformative.

Next, the team rolled up to Inn Safe Hands Children’s Home, paintbrushes in hand. They gave the space a vibrant makeover, creating a cheerier home for the children who live there. This wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was about showing these kids their community has their back.

Spreading Warmth on Nelson Mandela Day with Secret Scarves

Then, it was off to Provincial Hospital to take part in the “Secret Scarves Shhh” campaign by 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day. They draped hand-knit scarves outside, each with a note: “I am not lost. If you are cold and need me, please take me.” Those scarves brought warmth and dignity to people braving the winter chill, spreading Ubuntu in the simplest, most beautiful way.
