Kasi Hip Hop Babalaz: Scribes & Theofillus’ Anthem

Rising Southern African hip-hop artists Scribes Pitso and Theofillus have teamed up to deliver their latest banger, Kasi Hip Hop Babalaz. This track successfully blends the hard-hitting essence of hip-hop with the groove-heavy influence of urban beats.
As the lead single from their upcoming collaborative album, the song captures both the thrill and the aftermath of a wild night out, offering a raw, relatable, and high-energy take on South Africa’s vibrant party culture.
Capturing the Consequence and the Culture
“We wanted to create something that really speaks to the lifestyle—those nights where you go all in and then wake up feeling the consequences,” says Scribes Pitso. “It’s a celebration, but also a moment to reflect on the culture.” The song is therefore not just about the party, but the morning after.
Theofillus adds, “This track is all about energy. It’s about letting loose, but also about recognising the rhythm of life that comes with it. We wanted it to bang in the clubs but still have that authentic storytelling that hip-hop is known for.”
With Babalaz, Scribes Pitso and Theofillus are proving that Southern African hip-hop is currently evolving—fusing sounds, pushing boundaries, and capturing the realities of township life with precision and powerful rhythm.
