FlySafair Launches New Cape Town to Hoedspruit Route, Boosting Kruger Access

Low-cost carrier FlySafair has announced the launch of its new FlySafair Cape Town to Hoedspruit route, a move set to enhance access to the central Kruger region and neighbouring Limpopo province.

This new service complements the airline’s existing route to Mbombela, offering travellers even more options to explore South Africa’s iconic safari destinations.

A Gateway to Wildlife

“As part of our ongoing efforts to expand our network and improve domestic connectivity, we’re excited to introduce this new route. Hoedspruit is a gateway to the Kruger National Park and surrounding private reserves, and we’re proud to offer travellers a more affordable and convenient way to reach this incredible region.”

~ Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer at FlySafair

The addition of this route is significant for both local and international tourists. Hoedspruit is not just a town; it’s the very heart of South Africa’s Big Five country, bordering renowned areas like the Timbavati and Thornybush private nature reserves.

Known for its deep commitment to conservation, the town is home to wildlife rehabilitation centres and offers a unique bushveld atmosphere where it’s not uncommon to see wildlife wandering through the suburban areas.

The new route will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, making it ideal for weekend getaways or longer safari stays.

The first flight will depart on 2 October 2025, just in time for the summer season. For travellers, this direct flight eliminates the often lengthy layover in Johannesburg, making the journey from the Mother City to the bush significantly quicker.

One-way fares start from R1,570, and travellers can book them via the FlySafair website and mobile app.

Enhanced Connections to Southern Kruger

In addition to this exciting new route, FlySafair is also increasing the frequency of its Cape Town to Mbombela service, which will now operate daily. This enhancement undoubtedly offers even more flexibility for travellers.

Mbombela, the capital of Mpumalanga, acts as a vibrant hub that blends nature and commerce. It serves as a key entry point not only to the southern Kruger but also as a launchpad for exploring the breathtaking Panorama Route, with iconic sights like God’s Window and Bourke’s Luck Potholes.

These developments form part of FlySafair’s broader commitment to making air travel more accessible.

By connecting these key tourist hubs directly, the airline markedly supports regional tourism and economic growth, funnelling more visitors to local lodges, restaurants, and tour operators.
