The South African-based Nigerian DJ and producer delivers an Afro-fusion anthem centred on ambition, discipline and resilience

South African-based international DJ and producer DJ Scratch Masta is turning up the heat with the release of his latest single, “Focus”, a high-energy collaboration featuring Nigerian rap heavyweight Ice Prince and rising artist Khalil Harrison.

Blending Afrobeats, Afro-fusion and contemporary dance influences, Focus arrives as both a motivational anthem and a statement of intent from the Lagos-born creative, who continues to build his profile across Africa and beyond.

The track was inspired by DJ Scratch Masta’s personal journey of reinvention and determination.

“The inspiration came from me rebranding myself. I needed to stay focused to achieve my goals, with no distractions despite the storms. The main goal is to stay 100% focused,” he explains.

Now based in South Africa, DJ Scratch Masta has spent more than a decade establishing himself as a versatile DJ and producer known for blending global sounds with African rhythms. Drawing inspiration from industry icons including DJ Khaled, DJ Jazzy Jeff and DJ Waxxy, he has crafted a signature sound that crosses genres and borders.

With Focus, he introduces what he describes as a “3-step Afro-fusion” sound — an infectious mix of Afro-inspired percussion, urban influences and dancefloor-ready production. The addition of Ice Prince’s unmistakable flow and Khalili’s fresh energy gives the record a dynamic edge that appeals to both African and international audiences.

The release further highlights DJ Scratch Masta’s ability to seamlessly navigate genres including Afrobeats, Amapiano, Hip-Hop, Dancehall, R&B and House music. His career has already seen him perform at major entertainment events, headline international tours across West Africa and the United Kingdom, and build a loyal following through his energetic live performances.

More than just another club-ready release, Focus reflects a mindset of perseverance and purpose. It signals a fresh chapter for the artist as he prepares to unveil more music throughout 2026.

For fans of Afro-fusion, Afrobeats and contemporary African music, Focus is a track that combines infectious rhythms with a powerful message: stay locked in, stay disciplined and keep moving forward.
