Disney & Pixar’s “Hoppers” Hops Into Cinemas This Friday
Disney and Pixar invite audiences on a wildly imaginative adventure with their all-new animated comedy, Hoppers, opening exclusively in cinemas on March 6, 2026.
Blending heart, humour and environmental themes, Hoppers asks an irresistible question: What if you could talk to animals—and truly understand what they’re saying?
A Wildly Inventive Story
Animal lover Mabel (voiced by Piper Curda) discovers groundbreaking new technology that allows her to “hop” her consciousness into a life-like robotic beaver. Suddenly experiencing the natural world from an animal’s perspective, Mabel uncovers a hidden society far more complex—and quirky—than she ever imagined.
At the centre of it all is a glade with a pond that holds special childhood memories. When the area comes under threat from smooth-talking local mayor Jerry Generazzo (voiced by Jon Hamm), Mabel must rally an unforgettable cast of animal allies to protect it.
Meet the Pond Crew
- King George (Bobby Moynihan): A charismatic, larger-than-life beaver and self-appointed leader of the pond.
- Ellen: A formidable bear with a surprisingly loyal streak.
- Tom: A curious lizard who often finds himself in the middle of the action.
- Loaf: A well-meaning beaver doing his best to keep up with “Pond Rules.”
The all-star voice ensemble also features Kathy Najimy, Dave Franco and Meryl Streep. The film is directed by Daniel Chong and produced by Nicole Paradis Grindle.
An Adventure With Heart
Beyond its laugh-out-loud moments—think dancing beavers, gossiping deer and even flying sharks—Hoppers explores meaningful themes of community, conservation and coexistence.
Set within a vibrant river woodland habitat, the story highlights the delicate balance between humans and nature. From the importance of wetlands to the role of keystone species like beavers, the film subtly celebrates the ecosystems that sustain both wildlife and communities.
Family Entertainment With a Purpose
Created in partnership with Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment, Hoppers also arrives with an engaging activity packet designed to inspire children and families to connect with the natural world. Through interactive games, habitat exploration and animal fact sheets, young viewers are encouraged to discover the wonders of wildlife in their own backyards.
For South African families looking for meaningful entertainment with broad appeal, Hoppers delivers a blend of Pixar’s signature storytelling, cutting-edge animation and a timely environmental message.
Don’t miss Disney and Pixar’s Hoppers, exclusively in cinemas from March 6, 2026.
