The Countdown Is On for Bassline Fest 2026

Johannesburg’s most anticipated Africa Day celebration is almost here. On Saturday, 23 May 2026, Bassline Fest ‘Say Africa’ takes over Constitution Hill’s People’s Park for a powerful 20th-anniversary edition celebrating African excellence, creativity and cultural connection.

Tickets are selling fast for what promises to be one of the city’s standout live music events of the year.

Celebrating 20 Years of African Music and Legacy

Now in its 20th edition, Bassline Fest has become one of Johannesburg’s most important cultural fixtures.

For two decades, the festival has honoured Africa Day through a carefully curated line-up that blends legendary performers with next-generation artists shaping the future of African music.

This year’s headline acts include:

  • Ami Faku
  • Vusi Mahlasela
  • Maleh
  • Yugen Blakrok
  • Brandon Aura

Emerging talent Xolani Sithole also joins the line-up, alongside Rhythmic Clash winners:

  • Zinhle Madela
  • Flex of He and I
  • Shef and the Kitchen

Bassline founder Brad Holmes says the festival remains a cultural landmark for the city. “For two decades, Bassline Fest has stood as one of Johannesburg’s most important Africa Day celebrations. Say Africa reflects the festival’s mission to celebrate African excellence, creativity, diversity and shared cultural experience through music.”

A Day of Music, Food and Johannesburg Energy

Set against the iconic Constitution Hill skyline, People’s Park transforms into a vibrant open-air cultural playground.

Festivalgoers can expect:

  • Live performances across the day
  • Curated food vendors
  • Craft market stalls
  • Panoramic Johannesburg skyline views
  • A family-friendly atmosphere

Doors open at 12pm, with the festival ending at 8pm.

Tickets are R300 via Webtickets, while children under 12 enter free.

Guests are welcome to bring camp chairs and picnic blankets.

The Artists to Watch at Bassline Fest 2026

Maleh Brings Chart-Topping Momentum

The multi-SAMA-nominated vocalist arrives fresh from the success of her acclaimed album Dithapelo.

Fans can expect live performances of hits including Bula Ditsela, Dithapelo, and her latest single Ubaba, heading to radio this May.

Vusi Mahlasela Returns With New Music

South Africa’s beloved singer-songwriter is enjoying a creative resurgence.

Backed by Gallo Records, he releases his new single Peace to the World on 22 May, just one day before his Bassline Fest performance.

Ami Faku Continues Her Reign

Supported by Empire Records, Brandon Aura releases his new single Run on 15 May.

His Bassline performance marks a major moment in his rising career.
